Bulky household waste collections

A bulky household waste collection service is available to Shropshire residents.
This service is for the collection of surplus household items which are unsuitable for your bin, or too large to fit into it, such as furniture or electrical goods.
The service is managed by Shropshire Waste Partnership and delivered by our contractors, Veolia Environmental Services.

How to arrange a collection
Call Shropshire Waste Partnership on 0845 678 9009.
Payment is required in advance before a collection can be arranged and all items to be collected must be listed at the time.
The charges cannot be waived under any circumstances and include a subsidy on the actual collection cost.
Payment methods
- By debit or credit card – collection can be booked immediately.
- By cheque or postal order – collection is booked when payment is received.
- Cash payments can only be made by the issuing of a payment slip which can be taken by the customer to a Natwest Bank. This delays booking until payment is confirmed.
- Payments cannot be made at district or borough council offices.
What can’t be collected?
- Items which would not be taken when moving house, such as fixtures and fittings (bathroom suites, kitchen units, doors, windows etc) – you should use a skip service or take to a household recycling centre.
- Household refuse, recyclables and garden waste whether bagged or loose – use the regular household collection containers or take to a household recycling centre.
- Building waste, fencing etc – use a skip service. Small quantities of DIY waste can be taken to a household recycling centre.
- Hazardous materials. Hazardous wastes such as garden chemicals and paints can be taken to a household recycling centre. Telephone 0845 678 9009 for information about the disposal of asbestos waste.
- Waste from businesses – use an authorised collection contractor or licensed trade waste disposal facility.
- Oil tanks and liquid wastes. Telephone 0845 678 9009 if advice is required.
- Car parts – take these to a scrap dealer, or in the case of tyres to a tyre dealer.
- Shropshire Waste Partnership and its contractors retain the right to refuse to collect items on the grounds of health and safety or practicality.
