'Framed' author Frank Cottrell Boyce to visit Oswestry 10 September

Frank Cottrell Boyce, the bestselling author and screenwriter, will be visiting the Marches School and Oswestry Library on Wednesday 10 September. He is coming to the town to find out why everyone has been reading his book, “Framed”.

In January this year Oswestry Reads was launched to celebrate both the forthcoming opening of the new library and the National Year of Reading and “Framed” was chosen by the public from a shortlist of five titles. Since March there have been 500 copies of the book circulating around town in offices, schools, cafes, galleries and at the library.

Councillor Barbara Craig, Shropshire County Council Cabinet member for community services, said: “Oswestry Reads has been an imaginative way of promoting reading and ‘Framed’ has proved to be a very popular choice with people of all ages. I’m sure Frank Cottrell Boyce will be impressed when he visits the town, sees the two new libraries in the town centre and at the Marches School and meets many of the people who have read the book and taken part in the big read”.

Frank will be visiting the Marches School in the morning where he will meet some of the pupils, see the work they have done based on Framed, deliver a screen writing workshop and officially open the new school library.

In the afternoon he will have a preview tour of the new town library where there will be a number of displays based on and inspired by his book. After the tour Frank will give a talk about his work, answer questions and sign copies of his books. There will be a limited number of free tickets available for this session and those attending will also be able to have a look around the new library before it opens later in September.

Anyone wishing to reserve a ticket can either visit the temporary library in the library garage when it is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10-4 or email oswestry.library@shropshire.gov.uk

For further information please contact Heather Rodenhurst at the library on 01691 656994 (calls are currently diverted to the SCC Customer Service Centre) or by email heather.rodenhurst@shropshire.gov.uk.
