Youth issues on agenda at neighbourhood forum

Shrewsbury residents are invited to a meeting of the Castlefields & Ditherington Neighbourhood Forum at Mount Pleasant Junior School tomorrow evening (Wednesday 5 December). The meeting will start at 7.00pm, and will be a chance for people to hear about the youth facilities on offer in the Castlefields and Ditherington area.

The neighbourhood forum is open to all residents and is chaired by county councillor for Castlefields & Ditherington, Alan Mosley. Representatives of organisations such as Severnside Housing, the police and fire service are also part of the forum, and will be present at the meeting to answer questions.

Shropshire County Council’s principal youth officer Martin Stephens, and local youth worker Anthony Williams, will attend to let people know what services are on offer, and to answer questions from the public. Litter and refuse collection are also on the agenda, following consultation with the neighbourhood forum steering group members, and officers from Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council’s public amenities department will be attending.

Councillor Alan Mosley said: “The meeting will be a good chance for residents to hear what youth facilities are out there, and it will be interesting to hear from the borough council about litter collection in the area. A recent questionnaire survey told us that litter was a concern for people, so we are doing what we can to raise the issue with the relevant people. There will also be lots of opportunities for residents to voice concerns and request action on any issues.”
