People living in the Bagley electoral division in Shrewsbury will be able to have their say about local issues at the area’s annual “Let’s Talk” meeting on Thursday 18 September. The meeting is being held at the Gateway Centre in Chester Street, Shrewsbury, starting at 6.00pm.

The Bagley division covers Shrewsbury town centre, Greenfields, Herongate and Coton Hill.

People will be able to raise any issue, and it is expected that discussions will cover subjects including traffic and road safety issues, crime and anti-social behaviour, housing and associated developments, flood prevention, and the new town council.

Comments can be made during a question and answer session, as well as in workshop groups.

Local councillors from Shropshire County Council and Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council will be at the meeting to listen to the comments and concerns raised by local people, and answer their questions.

Roger Evans, Shropshire County Councillor for Bagley, said: ”Our success in keeping Greenfields Post Office open shows that community action really works. We had a good attendance at the 2007 Let’s Talk meeting, which also covered Castlefields and Ditherington. This year we will only be looking at the Bagley area, and want as many people as possible to come along and tell us about what else matters to our local community. We particularly hope that more young people will attend this year, as we are especially keen to hear about the issues that matter to them.”

The meeting will begin with a brief report on what has been done over the past 12 months in response to issues raised last year. Everyone attending will be given feedback afterwards, telling them what the councils have done as a result of the meeting.

This is the one of a series of 19 “Let’s Talk” meetings which will be held across Shropshire before the end of October. Eleven local joint committees will also be holding their next meetings this autumn.
