The A4117 at Quarry Bank, near Cleobury Mortimer was originally due to be closed from Monday 7 January. This will now be closed from Monday 21 January for five weeks to allow for essential repairs.
Cross border co-ordination of this closure and its diversion route has been essential. This has meant that special designs for the diversion signs have had to be agreed and subsequently manufactured, which has unfortunately resulted in a delay to the start of this project.
Shropshire County Council is carrying out these repairs following a landslip, caused by the summer’s heavy rain, which damaged the road and the pavement.
In order for these works to be carried out safely the road will need to be closed throughout the five weeks. However pedestrians will be able to pass using a dedicated footpath.
Access will also be maintained for dismounted cyclists and horse riders.
Whilst the road is closed traffic will be diverted:
Ian Rutherford, Shropshire County Council’s divisional surveyor for the south, said: “I’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause, however I do hope that people will understand that these are essential.
“We will endeavour to make every attempt to complete these works as soon as possible.”
