Let's Talk meeting for Condover area residents

Residents living in the Condover area can once again have their say about issues important to them, at the area’s annual “Let’sTalk” meeting, being held on Wednesday 17 September at Dorrington Village Hall, starting at 7.00pm.

The meeting is open to people living in Condover, Longden, Pulverbatch, Picklescott, Cardington, Leebotwood, Acton Burnell, Cound and surrounding parishes.

At the meeting local councillors from Shropshire County Council, Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council and local parish councils will listen to comments and concerns raised by local people, and answer their questions.

People will be able to raise any issue, and it is expected that discussions may cover subjects including the new Shropshire Council, public transport, facilities for young people, affordable housing and traffic issues.

Comments can be made during a question and answer session, as well as in workshop groups, and the issues raised at the meeting will then help to shape planning at each of the councils.

Peter Nutting, Shropshire County Councillor for the area, said: “I’m particularly keen to hear people’s views on traffic issues on the A49, and parking and ParkRight as it affects rural villages. I would also welcome views on the future of local schools, post offices and rural phone boxes which are all under threat. The move to Shropshire Council and how it will affect council tax levels in the rural area can also be talked about at the meeting.”

Tony Tudor, Chair of Condover Parish Council, said: “We are delighted to once again work with our partners at the county, borough and parish councils to give the people of this area another opportunity to talk to their councillors about what matters to them. We hope as many people as possible from the area, especially young people, will join us at the meeting.”

The meeting will begin with a brief report on what has been done over the past 12 months in response to issues raised last year. Everyone attending will be given feedback afterwards, telling them what the councils have done as a result of the meeting.

This is one of 19 “Let’s Talk” meetings being held across Shropshire before the end of October.

Eleven local joint committees will also be meeting across the county this autumn.
