Closure of Condover Bridge

Condover Bridge will be closed for 12 days from Monday 3 March to Friday 14 March so that the damaged parapet can be repaired.

The bridge, which carries the unclassified road between Condover and Dorrington over the Cound Brook, was damaged by a vehicle in January, and several masonry blocks need to be replaced or repaired.

The bridge must be closed while the work is being done for safety reasons.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted from the north side of the bridge via the unclassified road northwards to the A49, southwards on the A49 to Dorrington, northwards on the unclassified road to the bridge, and vice versa.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists and horse riders will be maintained throughout this closure.

John Williams, Shropshire County Council’s Principal Bridge Engineer, said: “It is appreciated that the road closure will cause inconvenience; however, we hope that people will understand that these repairs are necessary for safety reasons.”
