Traffic will be diverted away from a bridge near Newcastle for four weeks from Monday 10 March until Friday 4 April 2008 so that it can be repaired.
The bridge, which carries the B4368 over the River Clun, was damaged by vehicular impact and several stones have been loosened or damaged in the parapet.
The road is not wide enough to allow work to be carried out safely with traffic passing, so when works are taking place in the road, traffic will be controlled by traffic lights.
This is likely to cause delays to traffic using the B4368 through Newcastle, so through traffic will be diverted via the A489 and the A488 between Kerry and Clun, and vice versa.
Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists and horse riders will remain available throughout.
John Williams, Shropshire County Council’s Principal Bridge Engineer, said: “It is appreciated that these works will cause inconvenience, however we hope that people will understand that these repairs are necessary for safety reasons”.
