Top rating for Ludlow Visitor Information Centre

Ludlow Visitor Information Centre has been rated as one of the top five tourist information centres in the West Midlands by national tourism agency VisitBritain.

The agency carried out a ‘mystery shopper’ inspection of Tourist Information Centres across the country in August this year. The survey looked at how easy the Visitor Information Centre was to find, how staff acknowledged and treated visitors and the overall quality of the service.

The visitor centre, managed by Shropshire County Council with partnership funding from South Shropshire District Council, Ludlow Town Council and the South Shropshire Tourist Association, scored highly in all three categories: the visit, the phone call and the response to e-mails.

In the report sent to Tourist Information Centres across the region the inspector specifically referred to his visit to Ludlow. He said: ‘Exceptional, nothing too much trouble, very polite and well spoken. Other visitors overheard remarking on how pleasant it was. Watched interaction with other customers and saw excellent service.’

Barbara Craig, Shropshire County Council's Cabinet member for community services, said: “I am delighted with the result – it’s a great comment on the quality and the commitment of all our staff who work so hard to offer the best possible service to customers, and I know they are looking closely at the report to see how they can do even better.”
