The Shropshire Partnership
The Shropshire Partnership is a strategic partnership involving councils, regional, public and local agencies, the voluntary and community sector, business, young people and equality and diversity communities. Partners work together to meet local needs and improve the quality of life in Shropshire. The Shropshire Partnership is also sometimes referred to as the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). Find out more about the Shropshire Partnership's work and meetings via the menu on this page. Our latest newsletter is available under the 'publications' section of this page.
One of the Shropshire Partnership's main areas of work is the Local Area Agreement (LAA). The LAA is a three year formal agreement between central Government and the local area on priorities to improve the quality of life for local people. Shropshire's LAA was put together by the councils and other partners of the Shropshire Partnership. The LSP is currently developing a new Local Area Agreement which will replace the current one in July 2008. Please click on the boxes below for information on the four groups which steer the LAA:

Over 150 partners, potential award winners and sponsors, gathered for an evening event to celebrate the very first Pride of Shropshire Awards. The event organised jointly by the Shropshire Partnership and the Shropshire Star was compered by Eric Smith of BBC Radio Shropshire. The award trophies were designed by David Keenan from the Fusion Gallery at the Jackfield Tile Museum. Each award (and an overall award) was sponsored by local companies. Winners received a trophy and cheque for £500.
Award categories included: courage, young entrepreneur, learner, greenest family, neighbour, volunteer, healthy star, carer, community project and overall award winner. A posthumous presentation was also made to the widow of PC Ricky Gray who was shot and killed in the line of duty last May.
A community group set up to tackle anti-social behaviour and under age drinking on a council housing estate won both the community project and overall award on the night. 'Meole's Got Talent' from the Meole Estate in Shrewsbury are the winners. The project had grown from the 50th birthday of Meole Estate Community Association and features singing workshops and a concert in a local church hall.
