Oswestry Library serves the market town of Oswestry and surrounding villages. For a location map, please follow the link to Shropmap.
As well as an excellent book stock there is a good range of DVDs, compacts discs and talking books. The library holds the second largest collection of local studies material in the county for Shropshire after Shropshire Archives in Shrewsbury. There is an important Welsh collection. Eight People's Network computers are linked to the Internet, with free broadband access.

Oswestry Library is the administrative headquarters for the seven community libraries in the North Shropshire Area. It is also the base for two mobile libraries. The Oswestry Rural Mobile Library visits communities within a twenty mile radius of the town on a fortnightly basis. The Oswestry Urban Mobile Library visits larger communities from Gains Park to St Martins either weekly or fortnightly.

There is a programme of activities for children which you can see by following the link on this page. An active reading group meets the last Thursday in the month to informally discuss a set book.

To celebrate the opening of the new library and to promote the National Year of Reading, Oswestry Library is working with the Oswestry and Border Counties Advertizer, local schools, colleges, businesses and the health service to encourage everyone to read the same book in 2008.
